At this event, you'll have the chance to learn jewelry making techniques and create unique designs.
Instructor and owner of Adorned Jewelry, Darina De Benedictis, will guide you through the process and provide all the necessary materials to make a beautiful pair of earrings. We will be using oven bake polymer clay to create the pieces, so you will learn various techniques for using the clay, in addition to learning how to assemble your own jewelry.
Laurie will be teaching the Sunflower Class this October.
Laurie Candelaria, an artist based in Charleston, South Carolina. Her career has been shaped by her early experiences in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Influenced by renowned artists like Georgia O'Keeffe, Laurie's early exposure to art ignited her lifelong passion. A graduate with a Bachelor of Arts from the University of New Mexico, Laurie has demonstrated versatility and skill across various art forms, including metalsmithing, jewelry design, stained glass, and watercolor painting. In recent years, she has dedicated herself exclusively to watercolor painting, capturing the essence of nature, wildlife, and the unique charm of the Lowcountry. Based on James Island, she enjoys nature, gardening, and coastal preservation. She balances her career as a Pediatric Occupational Therapist with her passion for painting. Laurie also specializes in creating custom paintings, including family memories, pet and home portraits.

In this class, you will be introduced to soft soldering. We will wrap a cabochon as well make a heart pendant.

If you are looking to learn silversmithing or brush up on your skills, then we have several classes to choose from. Debbie Gates has designed classes for students to learn new techniques and skills based around a project. All materials are available (fees per class); however, if you have a favorite cabochon, please feel free to bring it. Debbie can also provide individual one on one instruction.
MASTERING THE SAW

Are you tired of breaking so many blades? As jewelers, we all need to become proficient with the jewelers’ saw. While many of us tend to ignore the saw, it is imperative that we use it. And when we use it correctly-we will find that we use it more and more.In this class, you will learn the preferred blade sizes for specific metal gauges, how to saw correctly, how to turn sharp corners, saw straight lines—and then you will pierce and saw out a fancy design. Bring your own saw--Or you can purchase a saw at class.

LEARN THE ART OF KUMIHIMOm(Minimum 2 students) Class Fee $40
Kumihimo is a form of Japanese braiding using various types of stringing material, often combined with beads to make exceptional jewelry. This technique involves using different types of looms to achieve different types of braids. The possibilities are endless and can be customized to suit everybody.
CONQUER YOUR FEAR OF THE TORCH
Soldering Intensive –beginning soldering class
LEARN TO SOLDER! Tools will be provided.Students will make a sterling 18 inch chain. Using 16 gauge sterling wire, we will make jump rings and develop an understanding of the soldering process. Using hard, medium, easy and extra easy solder. And turn these jump rings into the chain. Make “S” hook clasp of 14 gauge sterling. Clean and file jump rings –and then tumble/polish the chain.
STERLING EARRING CLASS
Beginner Soldering. All materials and tools provided Students will complete 2 pair of earrings—making two types of ear wires. Learning to make a balled head pin. These make great handmade presents.
Introduction to Keum boo—Intermediate class
Students will create a pair of earrings out of fine silver and apply 24 kt gold using the ancient technique of Keum boo to create one of a kind earrings.
RING AROUND THE CABOCHON
Intermediate soldering class All tools provided. Students will select a cabochon. Students will learn to determine their ring size and design a ring with a cabochon. Students will measure and create bezel and then solder to the back plate. All set in sterling. Students will also have the option to use decorative trim.
